I capture the loving relationship between bodies and light. Through film photography I focus on natural light to accentuate the fragile, sensual and at times vulnerable aspects of the human condition. The female form inspires me as it relates to nature. While the natural world is beautiful in its terrible grandeur, women's beauty lies in our lovely fragility. My work celebrates this delicate balance and displays the inherent goodness of both people and nature in their precarious relationship.
Shooting in color or black and white, 35mm or medium format I use the photograph as a visual record, a medium in which to share the everyday and the unusual. Youth, femininity, the human form, saints, mountains, leaves, windows, and new places are just a few of the subjects that inspire me. Whether I am photographing nudes or still lifes I strive to emphasize a sculptural display of light and grain.
Currently in the MFA program at Mills College.
